PART 3 – Word Formation

  • A short text with 8 gaps
  • You are given a base word; transform it grammatically to fit the sentence
  • Focus: Vocabulary building – prefixes, suffixes, noun/verb/adjective/adverb forms

PART 4 – Key Word Transformations

  • 6 separate questions
  • You are given a sentence, a key word, and must rewrite the sentence with the same meaning in 2–5 words
  • Focus: Paraphrasing, grammar, and structure

Example:
“I haven’t seen him for ages.” →
last → “It’s been ages since I last saw him.” ✅

PART 5 – Multiple Choice (Reading Comprehension)

  • A long text (approx. 550–600 words)
  • 6 multiple-choice questions
  • Focus: Understanding detail, inference, tone, opinion

Example question types:

  • What is the writer’s main point in paragraph 2?
  • Why does the writer mention X?

PART 6 – Cross-Text Multiple Matching

  • 4 short texts (e.g. reviews or essays)
  • 4 questions comparing views across texts
  • Focus: Understanding different attitudes, opinions, and comparisons

Example:
“Which writer feels the process is too slow?”
Match opinions between writers.

PART 7 – Gapped Text

  • One longer text with 6 missing paragraphs
  • You must choose from 7 possible options (A–G)
  • Focus: Understanding text structure, coherence, referencing

Example: Matching paragraphs based on logic, flow, and connectors.

 PART 8 – Multiple Matchin

  • One long text or several short ones
  • 10 questions – match each question to the correct section
  • Focus: Scanning for specific information, details, examples

Example: “Which person mentions overcoming fear?”

Tips for Success:

  • Practice timing: Aim for about 10–12 minutes per part
  • Skim and scan: Understand gist quickly; look for keywords
  • Focus on collocations, paraphrasing, and signal words (e.g. however, although)
  • Review grammar structures, fixed phrases, and word families
