Dictation Practice- understanding contractions with deductions.

These pairs focus on the difference between present modals and past modals. Can you hear the difference between ‘must be’ and ‘must have been’ or ‘could do’ and could have done’? Listen very carefully to the past model ‘could’ve been’ etc. and you will notice you don’t really hear the contracted ‘have’ but you hear the past participle verb (been, done) clearly.

Listen, write what you hear and review your sentences for logical grammar (and the have or prepositions that you can’t hear properly) before you go to the answer at the end.
